Position Summary:

Characterization Engineer to support product development of Maxim's Analog & Mixed Signal ICs.
- Design automated evaluation systems for characterization of Analog & Mixed Signal ICs. This includes developing PCBs and software to automate measurements.
- Conduct precision bench measurements to correlate production test,  gather statistical data and debug products in development.
- Write software for instrumentation control using C++, C#, VB and LabView.
- Use wide variety of instrumentation, such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, RF generators, pattern generators, high speed oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Document new product performance and create graphics for data sheets.
- Work with test engineers to provide statistical analysis to set production test limits.
- Work with IC design engineers to debug IC products in development.

The successful candidate will be a characterization engineer with a good working knowledge of Analog & high speed PCB design, high frequency & analog measurement techniques and instrumentation. He/she understands the use of analog & mixed signal devices and is capable of writing software to automate measurement setups using GPIB controlled instrumentation. The candidate work wells with other engineers in a team and has strong verbal and written communication skills.


- B.Sc.E.E/M.Sc.E.E, 10+ years of experience
- Solid understanding of analog electronics
- Basic understanding of statistics needed to set test limits
- Experience designing schematics for PCBs and specifying layout
- Experience using high frequency measurement equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, RF generators and sampling oscilloscopes
- Experience programming in C++, C#, or Labview
- Excellent soldering skills a plus
- Experience with serial data transmission techniques a plus
- Experience using logic analyzers a plus
