Position Summary:
Overview:
Maxim Integrated is a provider of highly integrated
analog semiconductors with $2.5B in annual revenues.  Maxim has
invested in the development of its marketing function for the last
two years.  In this time, we have doubled the size of the
organization, increased our spending dramatically, and brought into
dozens of experienced marketers in order to build our various
Marketing functions in the hope of creating a long term competitive
advantage.  We are currently looking for an experienced Director
or Executive Director of Marketing Operations.  This is a key
position within the global marketing organization responsible for the
planning and execution of outbound promotional activities, lead
management, and international marketing communications teams. 
We are looking for a strong, process-oriented, creative leader who
can manage the organization, improve our processes, and develop
his/her people.  This position is located in San Jose,
California.

Job Description:
Maxim has implemented
an integrated marketing campaign approach to generate demand for our
products.  Campaign program managers own end market campaigns
which plan and coordinate the full complement of marketing tactics
taking place over the course of a campaign.  These tactics may
include advertising, trade shows/events, PR/media engagement, channel
training, email, and other tactics intended to present a compelling
offer to customers.  Maxim uses a marketing automation system to
track, nurture, and route leads for follow up by our sales and
channel organizations.  The leader of this organization would be
responsible for managing these functions as well as our regional
teams in Europe, China, and Japan.  The Director of Marketing
Operations is responsible for a large budget split between multiple
geographic regions and has overall ownership of the advertising
strategy for Maxim.  The leader of this organization would need
to be able to synergize and rationalize our brand strategy with the
strategies of different end market campaigns as well as our
international marcom focus areas.  The international aspect of
this role is important in that we want to amplify the voices of our
regional marcom teams and develop strategies that are more likely to
succeed in other regions of the world.

Reporting
Structure:
The leader of Marketing Operations would be one of 5
functions reporting directly into the VP of Marketing and the ideal
candidate would be considered a potential successor as VP of
Marketing. The other functions include strategic marketing, technical
marketing, corporate marketing, communications, and customer
marketing.

Reporting into Marketing Operations are the
Campaign and Lead Management team as well as the regional marcom
teams located in Europe, China, and Japan.  The resources are
split roughly in half between HQ and the regions.  In total,
this is an organization of about 17 people with potential to grow as
the function develops.  International travel to the regions
would be required twice a year.
Requirements:

  • >10 years experience managing marketing communications and
    media buying for a technology-based company (ideally
    semiconductors)



  • Bachelor’s degree required (technical preferred),
    Master’s degree desired



  • Top notch organizational leadership and management
    skills



  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

  • Experience managing international marketing teams

  • Strong change management and executive influencing
    skills

  • Desire to have an impact and make a difference

  • Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of challenger brand strategy and tactics

  • Experience with implementation of marketing automation, lead
    management and tracking

  • Experience with bold, unconventional marketing tactics

  • Experience managing market research projects

  • International work experience
