Position Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist who is skilled at building predictive models that influence the way the company does business.

Part data research scientists, part internal consultants, the Advanced Analytics team is a newly formed area focused on delivering quantified models to business leaders that drive real decisions.  This team will have a unique scope with the ability to work on a broad range of business problems across the company.

Key deliverables for this position include quantitative model creation, prototypes, and analytical tool creation. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging in healthy debate with team members and developing production-quality code as required.  You must possess a passion for advanced data mining and be skilled in machine learning techniques.

Responsibilities:
75% of time driving analytical projects with high complexity, strategic value, and executive visibility
25% of time sharing best practices and growing the culture of data driven decision making at Maxim

Econometrics
- Expert knowledge in the application of statistical methods
- Create visualizations that enable rapid interpretation of complex problems
- Contagious passion for data mining and letting the data speak
- Ability to turn theoretical research into practical application

Data Management
- Strong system capabilities.  Design, build, and maintain robust production machine learning systems
- Build relational and non-relational database structures to facilitate exploration of key variables


Requirements:

Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in building advanced data models with proven predictive value
- Masters in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science or other heavily quantified field of study
- Fluency in data mining tools: SAS, JMP, R, SQL, with ability to code as needed
- You excel in a small team setting
- Highly creative and intellectually curious
